A little while ago I received the loveliest surprise email in my inbox. It was an invitation to attend a blogging event to celebrate the first birthday of Rush Hair salon in Cambridge. Having been at University for the last few years I hadn’t yet had the pleasure of visiting Rush Hair, but I’m well aware of their amazing reputation nonetheless. I was beyond excited to attend this meet up, in fact I couldn’t send my acceptance response quick enough! I think I was so worried I’d been invited by mistake I thought if I dashed in their quickly they would feel too awkward to un-invite me!! Of course that wasn’t the case but it’s so new to me to be invited to wonderful things like this. In this post I’ll be talking about the wonderful event at Rush Hair salon. I’ll also be giving you all an exclusive peak into the Rush Hair goodie bag, the goodie bag I almost forgot… More on that later.
The Ely Cathedral Christmas Gift and Food Fair 2016
The Ely Christmas Cracker was my first local blogger event EVER. I was a newbie once again but I was so excited to meet some lovely, like-minded local bloggers. Even better, it was an amazingly festive event (and we all know how much I loooooove anything Christmassy). It was pretty nerve wracking to begin with, but we got chatting and had an amazing day out at the Ely Christmas fair. We also had a mooch around some lovely independent shops in Ely, some I’d never experienced before. Keep reading to find out more! Read more..
Party Perfect Christmas Gifts from Veet and Scholl
Although this may seem a tad eager, would you believe it if I told you it’s only seven Mondays until Christmas!? So with that in mind, I’ve started to have a think about present ideas – both for myself and for others. For my best friends and my partner it’s a piece of cake. I’ve got this in the bag (or the stocking… which ever way you prefer). I know exactly what they like. However, I struggle to think of amazing gifts for the same group of people each and every single year. My parents, the in-laws and other extended friends and family. I want to put so much thought into each present, but when they’re picky about what they like it’s an impossible task. I can only buy so many framed photographs of myself before I begin to look conceited.
A few weeks ago I was contacted by a PR company who had some interesting Christmas gifts from Veet and Scholl which they wanted me to review. Naturally I jumped at the opportunity! Side note – I am totally and completely honoured to have received this opportunity by such renowned and established brands. This is a very proud moment for yours truly.
CB12 Mouthwash Review: does it really work?
Roughly two months ago I requested a recommended teeth whitening product which really works, that doesn’t damage your teeth or cost the world. I was beyond desperate! My teeth aren’t awful but they could probably be at least 50 shades lighter and I have had a horrible stain in between my front two teeth for months. FYI this is probably one of the worst places to get a stain – I’m forever being told I have some food stuck in there. Shortly after my tweet a PR company contacted me and asked if I’d like to try out CB12 mouthwash, and I was more than happy to put it to the test.
Revive Your Skin with Scrub Love Mint Coffee Body Scrub
The days are getting shorter, the temperature is dropping and our skin is bearing the weight of the changing season. Winter is coming and we must all be ready. One of the only things which I dread about the cooler weather is the dry and flaky skin which accompanies it. I’ve used many a body scrub in the past, and although they do SOMETHING I find myself getting bored with them and leaving the half-used pot to rot in the shower caddy. Sound familiar? Recently I’ve seen Scrub Love blow up on social media. So many bloggers have been raving about this product & so I just had to try it and and see what all the fuss is about.
Gerard Cosmetics lipstick review: tequila sunrise and rodeo drive
I’m having a pretty rough week due to a sudden attack of illness. I’ve been saving this post for a week just like this, at a time where I’m feeling down and want to make myself and the world more beautiful. I’m really excited to talk to you guys about Gerard Cosmetics lipstick, specifically the two which I bought; Rodeo Drive and Tequila Sunrise. I’ve heard fantastic things over the last few months about this brand so I couldn’t resist having a sneaky peak. Having already tried Gerard Cosmetics Slay All Day setting spray, I knew that the quality is fantastic. Looking at their lipstick range I was so enticed by the gorgeous gold packaging that I couldn’t resist!!! But I’m getting ahead of myself…
What’s in my Girl Gang goody bag?
I’m so lucky to be able to write this post! On 25 August the amazing Jemma hosted a blogging event at a gorgeous bar called “Dive NQ” in Manchester. The day was so perfect. I would love to spend this whole post raving all about it but unfortunately I have no photos! As some of you might know I’m more than a little shy when I meet new people. I went to The Girl Gang event with every intention of forcing myself to take photos and be bold! I chatted away with so many people but I was just too nervous to ask for selfies or to crack my phone out. Next time!!! Now I’ve met these beautiful people in the flesh once, I’ll definitely be a total camera whore next time. Sorry not sorry. In this post I’ll be talking about the wonderful things which Jemma kindly used to fill my beautiful, pink Girl Gang goody bag.
Kylie Jenner Lip Kit of Kylie Cosmetics: Ginger
Forgive me bank account for I have sinned… Again. A few weeks ago Kylie Jenner announced the release of some new summer shades, so I thought to myself “ooh well I’ll just have a little look”. Roughly a month later and here I am. It’s becoming a bit of an old story now isn’t it? I’ll stop justifying my Kylie Cosmetics addiction soon I promise. The first step is admitting you have a problem, or so they say. In this new post I will be revealing the stunning new summer shade Ginger and comparing it to my other lip kits (trust me, you really don’t want to miss out on this one).
Beauty Blogger Tag
Thank you to sincerelyjuliette for tagging me! This is my first ever Beauty Blogger Tag nomination, so I am excited to see what it’s all about and to get started.
The Rules are:
- Tag the blogger who nominated you.
- Answer the questions.
- Come up with 10 questions of your own.
- Nominate other bloggers, and don’t forget to tell them!
- Which do you like better, spring makeup trends or fall makeup trends?
If I had been asked this a year ago, I would have said with ease “spring by far” but now it would definitely have to be fall make up trends! I love a plum toned nude lip and the adventurous eye shadow shades you can get away with in autumn. Recently I have been experimenting with coppery shades on my eyelids and it looks GORGEOUS – my only issue is that it is beginning to look slightly too heavy for spring/summer time.
2. If you could be doing anything in the world, what would your dream job be?
I would love to live abroad, whilst pursuing my passion of writing. If I could be a successful writer or blogger in a hot country like Australia or America – that would be an absolute dream. To leave my house every morning with one layer of clothes on, and to have the ability to work for myself. Ahhhhh. Yes please
3. What’s your favourite foundation?
My everyday foundation is Rimmel London 24 hour Stay. I think this is brilliant because it really is long lasting, and for someone with combination skin like myself, that is really important so that my foundation doesn’t just slide off my face. Having said that, I do want to try new foundations as I have been faithful to Rimmel for a very long time and there’s GOT to be a decent, cruelty free equivalent.
4. If you could only put on one makeup product for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Ahhh this is so difficult! A part of me wants to be really clever and say an eye shadow palette because I could use rose colours for blush, browns for contouring and nudes/whites for highlighting… But if I’m honest I really can’t imagine going out without my mascara on. I think I could leave the house with just that on and feel a little bit nicer. So I’m going to be wild and choose mascara! It would be a very sad existence though….
5. Are you a cat person or a dog person?
Definitely a dog person. When I was younger I had two dalmatians, Pongo and Angel, and they were my world! We had lots of cats, and they were so independent and chilled! Of course, there’s nothing wrong with that. But I loved the interactivity of the dalmatians and how excited they would be to see me walk through the door. I can’t wait to be able to have dogs again!
6. Which do you like better, Summer or Winter?
SUMMER! I love winter for the fashion and for layers and for the darker makeup trends – but summer weather is unbeatable. I am not one for wind, rain, sleet or snow. I was definitely a born sun worshipper, and I can’t imagine myself any other way!
7. What would be your dream vacation spot?
Anywhere with a beach essentially! I love the Caribbean waters particularly and whenever I daydream about a holiday, my mind always drifts to there. Having said that, I am happy anywhere with the sun beating down on me, the sand between my toes and the sound of the ocean. Ahhhhh.
8. Why did you start your blog?
I have always had a passion for writing and over the years I have admired a great many bloggers; the creativity necessary to put their ideas out there and to be rewarded for it was such an amazing concept to me. It took me years to finally pluck up the courage to put my ideas and interests out there and I’m sooo glad I did!
9. If you could meet any celebrity who would it be and why?
Gordan Ramsay hands down! Ahhh I just love his attitude and his confidence. His one liners forever have me cracking up!! “OHHH FUCK MEEEE”. My reason to want to meet him is I’d love to have a sit down meal with him and listen to him go on and on about how much he loves food and to ask him all about his back story etc. It’s a strange obsession but there have been worse.
10. What is your favourite food?
This follows on quite nicely from the last! I don’t think I do actually have a favourite food though, as it totally depends on my mood. I do love a bit of steak with a calamari starter though – this completely depends on where I’m ordering from. Zizzi’s Italian do an amaaaaaazing calamari starter.
My 10 Questions:
- Do you spend more time in the morning doing your hair or make up?
- If you had to stick to one drug store brand for the rest of your life – what would it be?
- What is the story behind your blog name?
- Which stage of your make up do you most look forward to and why?
- What is your favourite hobby?
- What is your biggest fear?
- What is your best beauty tip?
- What is your favourite product in your make up bag right now?
- Which song is stuck in your head right now?
- Who is your favourite beauty blogger and why?
