Sheet masks have taken the world by storm, and here I am FINALLY trying one out! I was asked to review this Procoal face mask a little while ago, and what with the new job and many other (exciting) life changes, I REALLY needed this – so thank you Procoal! In this post I’ll let you know how I got on using my first sheet mask, and specifically my thoughts on the Procoal Instaclear Control face mask.
As mentioned before, I’d never used a sheet mask before this so it was entirely new territory for me. There are few things better in life than taking 30 mins out of an evening to light a couple of candles, stick a face mask on and watch your favourite TV programme.
It’s like a mini spa session in the comfort of your own home.
What do I look for in a face mask? Well, my skin issues are mainly (but not limited to) blocked pores, small pimples and the occasional breakout, but using a face mask isn’t just about skincare to me, it’s also about relaxation and selfcare.
Face masks VS sheet masks
What’s the benefit of a sheet mask? The main benefit I can think of is the lack of mess and the easy removal. That’s a pretty large appeal though. The relaxation/spa vibes can be easily destroyed with face mask all over your hands, the bathroom sink and patches STILL clinging onto your face for dear life.
A bit about Procoal
I have actually purchased from Procoal myself once before, and that was when buying some charcoal powder for occasional teeth whitening. The company ethos, the product and the delivery impressed me and left a lasting impression in my mind. For those of you who don’t know much about Procoal, here is a snippet from their About Us page:
Procoal started as a tiny speck of a business in 2016. A wife, a husband, a desk and a will.
I love seeing products by a self-made and humble company! I’m also absolutely living for Procoal’s anti-animal cruelty and pro-self-care approach. All of this information you can find on their site.
Procoal face mask
The Procoal Instaclear Control Mask is a purifying charcoal (I immediately love anything with charcoal in it) sheet mask. It promises to do the following:
- Address trouble-prone complexions, help refine pores and calm redness without flaking.
- It has hydrating properties which help transform your skin for a more purified, radiant complexion.
My experience
Using a sheet mask for the first time was definitely interesting. I was so surprised at how slimy the mask was… it’s like a little slimy slug!! Sorry if I’m not selling it with that description 😉
I wasn’t that successful in completely lining it up with my face as you can see, but I was expecting as much. It was definitely MUCH cleaner and hassle-free than your normal face masks, but it did slip down a little whilst it was on.
Just don’t do anything too active like hoovering or mountain-climbing whilst wearing and you should be fine.
The removal process was an absolute dreaaam. I just peeled the mask off, popped it in the bin and massaged the remaining serum into my skin. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
The cost and where to buy
In one pack you get 3 sheet masks all individually sealed, which is great news for those of you who enjoy a semi-regular treat, or who like to face mask as a group activity.
At the time of writing this, you could find the Procoal Instaclear sheet masks on the Procoal site. The RRP was £18.99 but was listed at a discounted price of £13.99!
UPDATE: Nowadays, the sheet masks are no longer sold on Procoal! Instead, you can find a Detox Charcoal Clay face mask.
Final thoughts on the Procoal face mask
I’ll probably still use ‘regular’ face masks as they feel nice and can be left on for ages. However, when I’m in the mood for a face mask but I’m dreading the clean up afterwards (this happens a lot, can you relate?) I’ll definitely be reaching for a Procoal sheet mask.
The following day my skin was so well hydrated, it was like I had received a spa treatment. Also, the cooling nature of the mask itself was so relaxing in the moment, it truly did it’s job in pampering and relaxing me.
