Although this may seem a tad eager, would you believe it if I told you it’s only seven Mondays until Christmas!? So with that in mind, I’ve started to have a think about present ideas – both for myself and for others. For my best friends and my partner it’s a piece of cake. I’ve got this in the bag (or the stocking… which ever way you prefer). I know exactly what they like. However, I struggle to think of amazing gifts for the same group of people each and every single year. My parents, the in-laws and other extended friends and family. I want to put so much thought into each present, but when they’re picky about what they like it’s an impossible task. I can only buy so many framed photographs of myself before I begin to look conceited.
A few weeks ago I was contacted by a PR company who had some interesting Christmas gifts from Veet and Scholl which they wanted me to review. Naturally I jumped at the opportunity! Side note – I am totally and completely honoured to have received this opportunity by such renowned and established brands. This is a very proud moment for yours truly.
Veet Sensitive Precision Beauty Styler Overview
Anyone who knows me at all will be very aware of my ultimate eyebrow obsession. I’m always striving for the perfect arch. Luckily, I’ve been gifted with fair hair so plucking can be prolonged and avoided at all costs. Having said that, there have been countless times on leaving the house I’ve caught myself in some far-too-honest lighting whereby I’ve noticed some unruly caterpillars messing up my brow game. Up until now I usually pluck furiously in the car and end up looking like my allergies have hit. It’s not a good look. When I heard about this product I couldn’t wait to try it.
Before I opened it I didn’t even notice all the other head attachments which allow you to use it almost everywhere on your body. What a bonus! There was me thinking I was getting a simple eyebrow trimmer, but now I have zero excuses to be walking around like an unshaven gorilla-like mess.
The packaging of this gift is so lovely in pink and the trimmer is so cute and discrete. The small bag makes it so easy to throw in your handbag, ready for any emergency which you may come across.
The fabulous, clear instructions on the back of the box explain the uses of each head and even shows you how to perfect your brows with the tools provided.
How did I get on with the Veet Sensitive Precision Beauty Styler?
I must say, I wasn’t a huge fan of the gel eyebrow pencil. I found it to be very dark and clumpy. It felt like I was using a stale old brown pritt stick. To be fair, the colour is far too dark for my bright hair and pale complexion – it’s a shame that Veet couldn’t have released a range of colours really – or perhaps released a transparent setting gel rather than a pencil. Food for thought. As you can see, the pencil doesn’t look catastrophically terrible on me, it’s just far from my favourite brow pencil.
The trimmer itself was an absolute dream to use! I was completely astounded by it’s flexibility. Of course, it’s not a complete miracle worker as you shouldn’t really be regularly shaving your eyebrows (that would promote even bigger caterpillars). But it’s the perfect little compact tool for when you’re in a rush or on the go. The tiny head makes it so easy to manoeuvre around your eyebrow.
I’m yet to try the other heads but I have high hopes based on the effectiveness of the brow tool.
Scholl Velvet Smooth Limited Edition Collection overview
If I’m totally honest, I was a little more hesitant with this one. I began dancing when I was 3 years old, and at one point I danced roughly 5 hours a day 6 days a week. In other words, I lost complete respect for foot care from a very young age. I used to actually avoid soaking my feet in order to build up the hard skin and make dancing barefooted easier. Sick right? But I’m always getting complained at by Dan when we’re in bed for my gross, dry feet. So I figured, well this couldn’t hurt right? RIGHT? I’ve tried Ped Eggs historically but they gave me a dead arm and I’m far too lazy for that kind of commitment.
The packaging…. WOW. Scholl have really gone all out with this one – and the effort is not lost on me. This gift is all wrapped and ready to go straight under the tree. You wouldn’t want to mess up this gorgeous glittery box with your crappy wrapping skills.
I love that when you open the lid everything is organised and accessible. I’ll definitely be keeping mine in the box between uses!!
How did I get on with Scholl Velvet Smooth Limited Edition Collection?
I was honestly so impressed with this christmas gift idea. It’s so easy to use – literally at the click of a button. The interchangeable heads make it a dream to clean and of course mean that it will last longer before you have to buy more heads.
I would definitely recommend using this over some newspaper or over the bath tub for an easy cleanup afterwards. Dead skin is a wee bit of a pain to get out of the carpet.
Within a matter of minutes my feet were silky soft. The best part? It required no physical exertion or concentration at all. I honestly just watched Gilmore Girls the entire time whilst using this. The nail polish is a nice little extra to this gift to take it to party level. Who doesn’t love a red pedicure to brighten things up?!
The prices of my Christmas gifts from Veet and Scholl
I honestly couldn’t believe the price of the Veet sensitive precision beauty styler. For some reason the only place I can find it online at the moment is Amazon where it’s currently on sale for £31.58. I do know that they are selling it in Boots stores though because I saw it the other day – I just can’t find it online. It’s a mystery.
One thing I will say though, is if you/ the recipient of your gift have light hair/eyebrows like me you probably won’t get on with the HD brow pencil too well. You can actually get the beauty styler minus the HD brow pencil for half the price!! Superdrug and Tesco are selling it for just £16. Now that is a bargain! Considering all the different heads available to you and the cute little travel bag I think that’s well worth the money
The Scholl velvet smooth limited edition is priced slightly higher at £69.99 from Boots. I must admit that the price horrified me at first. £70 for a foot product? Are you mental? But I did some shopping around and if you think about the two extra roller heads and nail polishes – it’s not much more than own-brand electric foot files. For the style and interchangeable roller heads it’s worth the extra buck in my opinion.
I also have some amazing news for you. Boots are currently doing an offer which involves £30 off Scholl gift sets! That means that this amazing product is reduced down to £39.99. If ever there’s a time to grab it, it’s now!!!
(Off topic: Can I just take this moment to say how amazing it feels to have been gifted such high quality products for review? These are the highest priced items I have received to date – and I got them in one delivery!! I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with such incredible brands!)
To sum up my party perfect Christmas gifts
Well, my Mum is already eyeing up my Scholl gift set so I’ve promised her one as a Christmas gift. Thank godddd! She’s usually very hard to buy for. I also know of a few other relatives who would love it! Whilst this offer’s on, I’d be a fool to miss out on the opportunity.
As for the Veet beauty styling set, I know a few friends who’d be grateful to have this kit on the go. As I said, I’d probably buy the half priced version as I personally couldn’t get on with the HD pencil. I’d much rather buy them a pencil separately than make them endure that painful procedure.
Literally everyone I’ve spoken to about or shown these products either wants them for themselves or to buy as a christmas gift. A big thumbs up from me!
Hopefully this post has inspired some christmas gift ideas. If not for others then at least for yourself! I’m really happy with both of these products, especially with the reduced prices I found online!!
